would be kind of pointless not to use the primary attribute of a profession.
warriors can dish out that lil bit more damage with strength;
rangers can reduce their skill costs drastically with expertise;
monks can be heal for more per point of energy used with divine favor;
elementalists can have a huge energy pool with energy storage;
mesmers can throw out long cast spells very quickly with fast casting;
necromancers can benefit even more from deaths in game with soul reaping.
anyone that choses not to use their primary attribute (apart from some specialised/farming builds) is well.....dumb

Im aware primary attributes more often than not more powerful than other attributes. But what im trying to figure out is that:
In terms of spiking: A fast casting Me/E better or a high dmg E/me (due to higher attribute from runes) better?
I suppose this is a matter of preference but still would like to hear out anyone familiar with spiking builds.

Hmm, I find that to be a harsh conclusion. The only use I've found for strength has been chest farming which I gave up quite some time ago.
What's better? +1% armour penetration when using attack skills or +damage and increased chance of critical hits with every attack of your weapon? Any points I put into strength are just leftovers.

Not all primary attribute are created equal. Not all primary attributes have linked skills that are very effective. Not all builds benefit equally from the primary attribute of the class. Only warriors and necromancers really fall under the "leftover" argument though, while many of the other classes and build themes get ample benefit (and sometimes neccacary) boost from the primary attribute. Then again, if you arent using the primary, it begs to question why choose that particular class as a primary profession.

Thats what Im trying to get at all this while. Is it worth choosing primary profession to use the runes linked to other sub attributes?

didnt mean to sound harsh but thats my opinion on it.
i personally dont see a point in putting points into say....fire magic and nothing in energy storage. if an ele regularly uses exhaustion causing spells, it would be beneficial to have a larger energy pool so that the exhaution doesnt take away as much of your pool.

Air builds will burn out the pool to exhaustion faster than fire will, due to the dramatically different recast times. Actually, by the time most of the firespells recycle, the exhastion has already run its course.
